Last summer, I received a writing exercise from my mentor.
I described charcters that would be drinking these drink. This is purely from my imagination, and the result is even more fun once generated the description to image using AI. Here are the result.
A man in his mid thirties is sipping this drink under the shade of a chain cafe next to his apartment. He is enjoying the sun with his old favorite wire headphone between his head. The pop song he is listening to brings him up from the chair and fuels up his bones to start dancing. He starts tapping his brown loafers on the ground and swinging his sweater around along with the beats. He moves like a teenager until he realizes that his tight shorts ripped around his buttcheek. He suddenly becomes shy and gets back to his seat.
A young adult programmer finally takes his first sip on this can drink while enjoying a day break in his dark room. The sun shines into his small window after a long night, wrestling with coding bugs and errors. The drink has been opened since the night before when he started coding this project and has been left next to the overheated CPU fan. The man cracks his fingers, and sighs as he gets up to take a shower after a week straight fermenting his body with sweat and tears. He throws his unwashed hoodie onto a mountain-high laundry pile. Sadly the avalanche of dirty cloth collapses and hits the leftover warm grape soda can. The soda spills on the power outlet and the computer goes blue screen.
A digital nomad has to immediately stop by this chain cafe to do some creative work as an overseas client requests immediate fixes. She is not ready to decide as she has been wiping her sweat from a quick morning run. She pulls up her phone and looks up nutrition facts for the drinks on the menu list. “Next!” She is up. Running out of phone service, she is on her own to pick the lowest calorie drink on the menu. “Latte” appears to be short in letters and simple enough. She orders a latte as she just wants to sit and work. The barista asks if she wants the cafe’s seasonal promotion, “+$1 to make it MOCHA!” or adding cinnamon for extra flavor. The lady nervously smiles and declines the offer. She walks straight to the corner of the restaurant to pick her working spot. After ten minutes of not hearing anyone calling her name for her drink, she walks up to the counter and randomly picks up only one drink left there. It is a mocha latte with cinnamon. It does not taste too bad for her, but it is not her drink as well
A wall street stock analyst enters his penthouse soullessly after a big seasonal loss. He loosens up his tie and throws away his suit. He puts on his Barney the Dinosaur pajamas and starts rolling on his couch. Getting sad and thirsty, he walks up to the fridge and gets dr. pepper. His eyes suddenly widened from the refreshing soda. He starts crying as he keeps drinking dr. pepper as this reminds him of his childhood. Back in the days, he did not have to worry about money and career. He had many friends around playing catches, and enjoying the soda after getting tired. He has nobody around anymore as the more he chooses careers, he has less and less time hanging out with his people. He decides to stop drinking the soda and let his past life away, and grab a bourbon bottle next to his couch.
A college freshman ordered this drink at the sorority party. She is convinced by her friends to join even though she barely talks to any human being. Arriving too early, she has no idea how social events work at all, so she goes straight to a bar and gets some drinks. Her brain cells can not make her decide what to drink after that long history exam she was struggling with earlier in the day. “Try our signature drink! GIN MARTINI + TABASCO!” a giant sign appears in front of her. The letters are so big and loud that she goes up to order. The drink sounds sour and refreshing as she confuses it with piña colada. AFter little sip, she suddenly spits out the drink and it spills on her evening dress that she borrowed from her friend. She awkwardly wipes the dress with her hands, leaves the drink at the bar and walks up to her friends that just arrived.
